Advantages of emollients

Reduces dryness
The main benefit of Emollients is its ability to trap in water helps to prevent moisture loss without allowing it to evaporate into the environment. This helps to reduce dryness and strengthen the skin’s barrier.

Soothes irritated skin
Emollients have the ability to comfort the skin and reduce inflammation. They help to treat flaking, scaly skin, rough texture and itchiness.

Anti ageing

Unmoisturised, dry skin can accelerate the ageing process as it loses the elasticity to bounce back after stretching. Applying Emollients can balance the moisture levels and make the face look plump, reducing signs of ageing.

Treats medical conditions like Eczema

Emollients can prevent dryness thus helping to protect the skin from irritants that cause itching and flare ups.

Prep skin for makeup

Due to its rich and creamy texture, Emollients make great products to prep your face before starting your makeup routine. They leave a thin film on the surface of the skin giving you the perfect canvas to apply products.

Types of Emollients

The Emollients produced by our company mainly include the following types:

Sodium Polyaspartate

Polyaspartic acid is an amino acid polymer that occurs naturally in the shells of snails and mollusks.Sodium polyaspartate can make the skin supple and plump, can effectively repair the skin, and can give the skin a silky touch. It is an ideal additive for skin cosmetics.

Antarctic Krill Oil

Antarctic krill oil is a deep red oil extracted using Antarctic krill as raw material. After extraction of Antarctic krill with food grade alcohol, the extract obtained is then treated into krill oil by refine and concentration procedure. It is rich in natural astaxanthin, phospholipids, Omega-3 fatty acids (EPA/DHA), choline and other nutrients.Antarctic krill oil has good skin moisturizing and penetrating properties.

Application of emollients

Skin care

In skin care, emollients help keep the skin soft, smooth, and elastic by staying in the stratum corneum to lubricate the skin, reduce flaky skin, and improve the appearance of the skin.

Hair care

In hair care, emollients are often used to form a hydrophobic oil film, reduce hair tangles, and increase gloss. Emollients can also act as anti-wetting agents or sealants to improve the combing performance of hair by smoothing and flattening the surface of the stratum corneum.

Oral care

In oral care, emollients help reduce oral bacteria, enhance moisturizing effects, and protect oral health.

FAQ

Q: What is the difference between moisturizer and emollient?

A: Moisturisers are products used to add moisture to the skin. Emollients are products used to soften and smooth skin (eg, lanolin, glycerol stearate). Although the terms emollient and moisturiser are often used synonymously, emollients can also be described as a specific ingredient of moisturisers.

Q: How to apply emollients?

A: Emollients should be applied to the skin in a downward direction of hair growth and left in a thin layer to soak in – this may take 10 minutes. Please do not rub emollients in.

Q: Does emollient stop itching?

A: When applied regularly, emollient therapy helps to reduce dry flaky skin, soothe redness and reduce the itch. Maintaining a regular skin care regime is essential for the management of eczema. It is important to continue to apply an emollient, even when the skin looks good.

Q: What is the best type of emollient?

A: Ointments are very moisturizing and are the best emollients for very dry or thick skin. They can stain your clothes and are messy, so many people prefer to use them only at night while they sleep. Most ointments don't have any preservatives, so your skin is less likely to have a bad reaction to it.

Q: What is sodium polyaspartate used for?

A: Poly aspartate sodium also can be used as a naturally degradable anti-scaling agent as well as a corrosion inhibitor. Since Poly aspartate sodium has outstanding water-solubility and capability to chelate metal ions.

Q: What does krill oil do for humans?

A: The benefits of krill oil seem to come from its omega-3 fatty acid content. The body doesn't produce many of its own omega-3 fatty acids. Omega-3 fatty acids can reduce pain and swelling and also prevent the blood from clotting easily. People use krill oil for dry eye.

Q: Is krill oil good for aging?

A: Krill oil rewires distinct gene expression programs that contribute to attenuating several aging hallmarks, including oxidative stress, proteotoxic stress, senescence, genomic instability, and mitochondrial dysfunction.

Q: What ingredient is emollient?

A: Examples of emollients are ingredients like plant oils, mineral oil, shea butter, cocoa butter, petrolatum, and fatty acids (animal oils, including emu, mink, and lanolin, the latter probably the one ingredient that is most like our own skin's oil).

Q: What is a natural emollient?

A: Natural based emollients: imparting moisture without chemicals
All natural based emollients are either animal or vegetable derived and can be classified as oils or butters depending on their consistency. Unrefined materials are normally complex mixtures of hydrocarbons, triglycerides, esters, and alcohols depending on the type of processing used.

Q: Do emollients repair skin?

A: A daily emollient bath/shower is recommended to remove dirt and skin debris, which could cause infection. Plain water without emollient will dry out the skin, whereas an emollient will cleanse the skin, reduce itchiness and repair the skin barrier by trapping moisture.
